The Woodwards

Welcome to the Woodward web site, a collection of documents (if you can dignify some of them with the term) related to R. Carey Woodward Jr. and his immediate family. Like 99.9% of the Web, this is a work in progress (it most recently progressed in June 2008), so please forgive any rough edges.

Who are these Woodwards?

[Picture of Carey] [picture of Melanie] Carey (left, from a geocaching/bike ride on the Mascoutin Trail in July 2006) is an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin--Fond du Lac. Melanie (right, from the family trip to Disney World in August 2005) is a medical claims processor at WEA Trust. Living with them in their 88-year-old house in Fond du Lac, WI are two children, a dog, five cats, two hamsters, and a varying number of fish. They enjoy running and geocaching; Carey is also a singer, a Morris dancer, and a homebrewer. They attend St. Paul's Cathedral.

[picture of Annie]
Carey's daughter Annie is nineteen years old, and just graduated from Cambridge Rindge & Latin School; she plans to attend Skidmore College in the fall. Unlike the other children on this page, Annie lives with her mother in Massachusetts. (This photo was taken at Otakon 2003 or 2004--it's the most recent picture we have.)
[picture of Laura]

Melanie's daughter Laura Killberg is eighteen years old and just graduated from Fond du Lac High School; she plans to attend UW--Stout in the fall. She, too, likes geocaching; to the right, she shows off a cache she found in June 2006.

[picture of Trip]
Carey's son Trip is seventeen years old and will be a senoir at Fond du Lac High School in the fall. His interests include Morris dancing, playing the flute, and electronic gaming. To the left, he awaits a bus at Disney World (August 2005) during a family trip.
[picture of Mom & Dad]

Carey's parents, Roland and Virginia, live in Richmond, VA (where Carey grew up), with frequent trips to their cottage on the Potomac; the picture of them to the right is from a vacation during the fall of 2005. (Carey's sister Allin also lives in Richmond; his brother John lives in Atlanta with his new bride, Kristin.)

[Picture of Owen] [Picture of Owen] Owen [left] is a black lab/something-or-other cross (we're guessing collie); he's about 70 pounds and past his seventh birthday, but still thinks he's a puppy. Of our four cats, Max [right] is primarily interested in chewing up electrical cords; Tater [far right] is almost exclusively interested in food; Peanut just wants to be left alone, thank you; and we're still not sure just what Mikey wants (but it seems to involve laps).

What else is here?

> Carey's professional pages. In addition to such fascinating items as his somewhat outdated curriculum vitae and publication list, it has a list of interesting astronomy sites. Last update: 5/2006
> The Woodward Morris page. Carey and Trip are both enthusiastic Morris dancers. Find out what it is and see them in action!
> The photo album is still under construction, but is up to three (short) pages--the St. Dunstan's 1999 Christmas pageant, Carey's and Melanie's wedding, and Annie's 2003 spring break visit--plus a couple of shots of Laura and Carey "rock" climbing at the St. Dunstan's parish picnic (6/3/2003).
> The Woodward's virtual refrigerator door: kid art and more! (No magnets, please.) Last updated 12/2000, and as with physical refrigerator doors, much of the material has been there a lot longer than that.
